Twitter Mysteriously Suspends Vladimir Putin’s English Account

The English-language Twitter account of Russian President Vladimir Putin has been suspended, users of the platform noticed on Wednesday.

“The official Vladimir Putin English-language Twitter account @PutinRF_Eng has apparently been suspended. No reports or statements from Twitter yet,” independent reporter Ford Fischer tweeted alongside video of him attempting to access the page, which returns an “account suspended” message.

Media has identified the page as an official account of the Russian president.

It isn’t clear when the account was suspended, but Twitter users started noticing the suspension early on Wednesday morning.

Sputnik News has reached out to Twitter for comment, inquiring whether Putin’s English-language account violated any terms of service or whether other users reported the account, which may have triggered the company’s algorithm, causing the suspension.

Sputnik News did not hear back as of the time of this articles publishing on Wednesday evening and will publish Twitter’s response if and when it is delivered.

The last available archive of Putin’s English account is from November 18.

The Kremlin’s English-language account remains active on Twitter.
