Stocks rise in early trading on Wall Street after historic drop

Stocks on Wall Street and around the world are rising, partly recouping significant losses suffered last week when President Donald Trump announced a sharp increase in taxes on imported goods entering the United States.

The S&P 500 index rose 3.4% in early trading on Tuesday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1,230 points, or 3.3%, and the Nasdaq Composite Index rose 3.6%.

Overseas markets also showed strong gains, while the price of US crude oil increased slightly to its lowest level in four years.

Market analysts point out that as the tariff conflict develops, even more significant price fluctuations are possible.
