Mexico city (Sputnik) – the mayor of Tlanepantla Mexico in the Central state Pueblo died Thursday after gunmen opened fire at his car, the Prosecutor General’s office said.
Machine with Jose Efrain Garcia was fired after was blocked a few cars on the road between the cities of San Pablo Actipan and Tepeaca, prosecutors said in Twitter.
The mayor was seriously injured and died in hospital.
This is the latest death in a series of killings of mayors and other officials in Mexico. Last year, armed men shot and killed Soto Duarte, the mayor Pungarabato, and Stalin sánchez gonzález, the mayor of Paracho.
