The motorcycle market in Ukraine in August 2025 showed a decline after the summer peak. In total, 8.6 thousand motorcycle purchase and sale transactions were registered, which is 19% less than in July and 1.2% lower than in August last year.
This is reported by Delo.ua, citing data from the Institute for Auto Market Research.
The motorcycle segment in Ukraine remains the most seasonally dependent among all types of transport intended for the transportation of passengers and cargo. The market traditionally becomes more active in the summer months, but already in August there is a gradual decline in demand.
The total volume of executed transactions in August 2025 was 8.6 thousand, which is 19% less than in July and 1.2% less than last year. This indicates the end of the high season in the motorcycle segment.
The largest share was accounted for by new motorcycles imported from abroad — 5,199 units, or 60.7% of the total. 2,676 motorcycle purchase and sale transactions were concluded on the domestic market, which is 31.2%. Another 694 motorcycles (8.1%) were imported used.
If we look at the dynamics by segment, the largest decline in August was observed in the domestic resale market – there were 22.1% fewer transactions compared to July, and if compared to August last year, the drop was 5.8%.
In the segment of used motorcycles imported from abroad, the situation looks somewhat different: compared to July, the indicators decreased by 14.4%, but in annual terms, the market, on the contrary, grew by 26%.
As for new motorcycles imported into Ukraine, their number decreased by 17.9% month-on-month, and compared to August 2024, the decline was 1.5%.
Market leaders
In the domestic market, the leaders remain the Japanese brands Honda and Yamaha, which are consistently in demand due to their reliability. Among the available options, buyers most often choose Geon, Lifan, Kovi, Musstang and Bajaj, next to which Suzuki and Kawasaki hold their place.
In the segment of used motorcycles imported from abroad, the situation is similar: Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki remain the unchanged leaders. At the same time, interest in more characteristic models is growing – Harley-Davidson, Ducati, Indian, KTM and Triumph, which are chosen mainly by experienced riders.
Among new motorcycles, Ukrainians prefer mainly Chinese and Indian brands – Mustang, Lifan, Spark, Forte, Kovi, Geon, Shineray, and Bajaj. The only Japanese brand in the top ten in this segment remains Honda.
Analysts emphasize that for most Ukrainians, a motorcycle is primarily a primary means of transportation, rather than an additional type of leisure equipment. This explains the steady demand for affordable and utilitarian models.
We would like to add that in July 2025, 10.2 thousand motorcycles were officially registered in Ukraine, which is a record figure when compared to the data of recent years. This volume exceeded the figures of June by 6.6% and July of last year by 18.4%.
