In Ukraine, dedicated parking zones for parents having kids under 3 years will be established.

On October 23, the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada generally endorsed draft law No. 12437, which governs the organization of exclusive parking places for motorists carrying kids aged three years and under.

As reported by Delo.ua, this information came from the parliament’s press office.

The vote in support of bill No. 12437 was cast by 276 parliamentarians.

According to the document, owners of parking areas that are either furnished or marked must set aside a minimum of 5% of their spots (but no less than one) for these kinds of vehicles.

Parking spots must have the right signage, such as road signs or markings, and vehicles must display a specific identification mark.

Also, the government should create guidelines for setting up and labeling such spots, along with a system for verifying who is authorized to use them.

Furthermore, authorities are expected to encourage the provision of designated parking spaces for expectant mothers, senior citizens, and veterans.

The goal of adopting this measure is to improve the comfort and safety of drivers traveling with young children and to help grow Ukraine’s parking infrastructure.

It is worth mentioning that Kyiv residents can now use the “Kyiv Digital” application to monitor the availability of open parking spots in real-time. The “Hourly Parking” section uses color to display how full parking zones are, which enables drivers to locate an available location quickly.
