Burnley have completed the permanent signing of Armando Broja from Chelsea

Armando Broja has left his boyhood club Chelsea to sign a five-year deal with top-flight side Burnley for an undisclosed fee.

Broja joined Chelsea from Tottenham in 2009 aged eight and progressed through the Blues' academy to the first team, where he made 38 appearances and scored nine goals.

However, Broja, an English-born striker representing Albania, the country of his parents, has had several loan spells outside west London, most recently playing for Everton last season.

The Toffees decided not to make the transfer permanent, but Chelsea have strengthened their attack this season with big signings Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, prompting Broja to decide to move on.

The 23-year-old striker, who has also played for Southampton and Fulham in the Premier League, said: “I'm very happy to be here as a Burnley player.”

“I am delighted to be joining the club ahead of the new Premier League season and I am looking forward to the season getting underway.

“I feel good, I am ready and I am looking forward to playing for this club. I promise that I will give my best every time I put on this famous maroon shirt.”

Burnley also signed Bashir Humphreys and Leslie Ugochukwu from Stamford Bridge in the off-season as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of their return to the top flight.
