US Does Not Rule Out Military Strikes Against Assad in Syria - Pentagon Chief

Washington (Sputnik) – the United States does not rule out that he will conduct military strikes against the Syrian government, U.S. Secretary of defense James Mattis said on Monday.

“I don’t rule out anything now,” Mattis told reporters at the Pentagon, responding to a question about the likelihood of U.S. strikes against Syrian President Bashaar Assad.

Speaking ahead of a meeting with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, Mattis said that the international community should determine, why do chemical weapons still used in Syria after Russia agreed to act as a “base grant” for the disposal of all chemical weapons from the country.

The Minister of defense has promised to work with “allies and NATO partners in Qatar and other countries” to resolve the issue.

Earlier on Monday, the Agency sana Syrian announced that a missile strike on Syria-SR should be T-4 airbase in HOMS province, while the Ministry of defense of Russia said that the attack was committed by two Israeli F-15 fighters.

The strike occurred two days after a number of media, citing the Syrian rebels accuse Damascus of carrying out chemical attack in city Council.

The US President Donald trump has accused Russia and Iran in supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and, therefore, is responsible for this attack. Syrian officials cited by news Agency sana said the charges were simply a provocation Jaish al-Islam terrorist group and other militants to prevent the onset of the Syrian government army.
