To determine future pensions, the average wage in the country for the last 3 years, the amount of salary, and the insurance period during which the future pensioner paid contributions to the PFU are important.

The salary calculation formula for calculating a pension is as follows:
Zp = Zc x (Sk: K), where:
Salary – salary (income) of the insured person for calculating the pension, expressed in hryvnias;
Zs – average salary (income) in Ukraine, from which insurance contributions were paid, for the three calendar years preceding the year of applying for a pension;
Sk — the sum of wage (income) coefficients for each month (Kz1 + Kz2 + Kz3 + … + Kzn);
K — insurance experience in months taken into account to determine the coefficient of the insured person's salary (income).

So, the Pension Fund approved the average salary indicator, on which the calculation of pensions depends – in July it decreased by almost 2 thousand hryvnias.
This year, the average salary for July was 20,455.65 hryvnias, which is 1,981.41 hryvnias less than in June (22,336.81 hryvnias). At the same time, the average salary for July 2025 is higher than the same indicator for 2024, which was 17,346.90 hryvnias (annual growth is 17.9%).
It should be noted that in the first half of 2025, there was an increase in the average salary:

- in January it was 18,660.32 hryvnias;
- in February — 18,589.38 hryvnias;
- in March — 19,430.52 hryvnias;
- in April — 19,856.19 hryvnias
- in May – up to 20,355.40 hryvnias;
- in June — up to 22,336.81 hryvnia.
According to forecasts, in 2026 the average salary in Ukraine will exceed 30 thousand hryvnias. And in 2027 this figure may be 34−35 thousand hryvnias.
