Fans will be able to pay their final respects to Ozzy Osbourne when his body is transported to his hometown for a funeral procession on Wednesday.
The Black Sabbath frontman's hearse will travel through Birmingham with his family to Broad Street starting at 1pm, the city council has said.
The motorcade, accompanied by musician Bostina Brass, will stop at the bridge and Black Sabbath bench, where thousands of fans have gathered since the heavy metal legend died last week at the age of 76 to offer flowers and condolences.
The event is expected to attract a huge crowd of fans who will gather to say goodbye to the heavy metal pioneer and give his family a chance to see the memories and tributes left by those who loved him.
Birmingham Lord Mayor Zafar Iqbal said the city where Osborne grew up would give him “the farewell he deserves”.
He said: “Ozzy wasn't just a music legend – he was a son of Birmingham.
“Following his recent award of the Freedom of the City and following his celebrated performance at the Back to the Beginning concert at Villa Park earlier this month, it was important to the city that we provide an appropriate and fitting tribute before a private family funeral.
“We understand how much this moment will mean to his fans.
“We are proud to welcome him here, surrounded by his loving family, to the place where it all began, and we are grateful to them for their generous offer to cover the costs of the event and help the city give him the send-off he deserves.”
The city council said it was working “at an accelerated pace” to co-ordinate a respectful and safe public event with the Osborne family ahead of the private funeral.
Broad Street will be closed to traffic from 7am and bus and tram routes will be diverted.
