Turkey will be able to ensure its national security only in close cooperation with the Syrian government of Bashar al-Assad, which remains a powerful force that unites Syria’s ethnic and religious communities, Turkish analysts told Sputnik.

“Instead of cooperating with us that supports terrorist organizations that threaten the national security of Turkey, Turkey should focus on strengthening cooperation with regional players, giving priority to their own welfare and stability of the region,” Hasan Bitmez, the Deputy head of the Turkish opposition party Saadet (happiness party), told Sputnik Turkey.

The politician condemned Ankara for born on April 14, a joint strike on Syria by USA, France and the UK, stressing that the Western countries and primarily target the territorial integrity of Syria.

According Bitmez, the statement of the Turkish government against the U.S. invasion of the coalition in Syria as contrary to the historical past of Turkey and its geographic location.

“The attack of the imperialist forces is contrary to international law — one of our neighbors and in a Muslim country, it is unacceptable under any pretext,” – said the politician.

On the other hand, the remark of the President of France Emmanuel Makron that the strike was “divided” between the Russian and Turks also indicates that Turkey was one of the goals of the attack, according Bitmez.

“This process is associated not only with Syria; it also covers Turkey, Iran and Iraq. After the United States, France, Britain and Israel to achieve their goals in Syria and foremost Iran and Turkey will come. The Turkish government should not ignore this fact”, – he stressed.

The politician noted that instead of implementing the policy of the United States, which is supplying the Kurdistan workers ‘ party (PKK), banned in Turkey, and the democratic Union Party (pyd) with weapons, Ankara should put first the interests of the region. “You have to understand that the support of a U.S. strike on Syria means helping the strengthening of the protection units of the Kurdish people (YPG) and the PKK in the North of Syria”, – he stressed.

Assad is the only force that can unite Syria

In turn, utku Reyhan, General Secretary of the Turkish left-wing party “Vatan” (Patriotic party), said that Damascus should be included in the Russia-Iran-Turkey Format of the talks in Astana.

“Turkey should not act in accordance with the interests or benefits of any country on the Syrian issue”, – he stressed. “First of all, [Ankara] should think about their own people, economy and security.”

According to the head of the party “Vatan”, the unity of Syria, which may be provided by the government of Bashar al-Assad plays right into the hands of Turkey. In addition, Turkey’s fight with the PKK can be effective only in the conditions of Turkish-Syrian cooperation, he said.

“One of the most important prerequisites that make it possible-the continuation of trilateral cooperation between Turkey, Russia and Iran, and, in addition, the inclusion of Damascus in the negotiation process,” he said.

He believes that Ankara should take the lead in ensuring the unity of Syria. Cooperation between Moscow, Tehran, Ankara and Damascus is vital for the future of Syria and Turkey, Reyhan, – he stressed.

“For this reason, the Turkish government must avoid making statements that can create an atmosphere of mistrust in relations with Russia and Iran. Such statements will not benefit the national security of Turkey”, – said the politician.

Rayhan reiterated that only the Assad government capable of uniting all religious and ethnic groups in the country.

“All reasonable countries must understand that the future of Syria cannot be separated from Assad as there is no other forces, like forces to ensure the territorial integrity of Syria,” said Turkish politician noted.

Commenting on the statement of Makron on the alleged “separation” between Russia and Turkey, which was later refuted by both Moscow and Ankara, Rayhan suggested that the movement of the President of France was caused by the lack of political and diplomatic experience. “It seems that he does not understand that such verbal attacks only facilitate Russian-Turkish relations”.

According to reihan, many of the Pro-government media and the ruling justice and development party (AKP), the party realizes the essence of this provocation.

“Regardless of how many representatives of the [Turkish] government to Express satisfaction with a missile strike on Syria, a number of publications close to Turkish authorities and even some politicians said the attack was a provocation aimed, in particular, to spoil Russian-Turkish relations”, – said the politician.
