All Ukrainians must digitize their paper work books by June 10, 2026. The Main Department of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in Chernivtsi region explained why this is necessary and what will happen if it is not done on time.

Why is digitization needed?
Digitization is necessary for those with experience acquired before January 1, 2004. After this date, all information about employment is already entered into the Register of Insured Persons. The main goal is to prevent the loss or damage of data on experience recorded only in a paper document.
Who digitizes and how?

You can digitize your work book through the web portal of electronic services of the Pension Fund of Ukraine:
• Employer (through the insured's personal account).
• The employee himself (through the insured person's personal account).
What happens if you miss the deadline?
Despite the established deadline (June 10, 2026), missing the deadline will not result in loss of experience. In accordance with the Law of Ukraine “On Compulsory State Pension Insurance”, periods of employment before January 1, 2004 will be counted towards the insurance experience according to the previously valid norms.

The Pension Fund also explained what to do if you lose your work record. You can confirm your length of service without a document.
Confirmation of experience:
1. Length of service after January 1, 2004 is automatically taken into account according to the data of the State Social Insurance Register.
2. Experience before 2004 can be confirmed by other documents if the work book is lost or contains errors. Statements, salary certificates, settlement statements, written contracts or trade union cards with notes on contributions are used.
3. In the event of liquidation of the enterprise or its presence in the occupied territory, the length of service shall be confirmed by the testimony of two witnesses who worked together with the applicant.
4. Special commissions of the PFU in the regions and Kyiv consider preferential seniority and correction of inaccuracies. They confirm work in harmful or difficult conditions (according to lists No. 1 and No. 2) if the enterprise is liquidated without a successor, using archival materials.
