GB News' Eamonn Holmes left 'in pain' after falling off chair on air

GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes has revealed he is feeling “very unwell” after falling off his chair on air.

The 65-year-old Northern Irish TV presenter said it came as a “bit of a shock” to him, especially after he was hospitalised after a fall at his home earlier this month.

During his show on Wednesday, while he was with co-host Ellie Costello, a loud noise was heard as the camera was pointed at guest commentator Charlie Rowley.

Costello can be heard exclaiming “Oh my God!” in the background, and Holmes begging Rowley to “keep going” before the presenter returns to the air after a break.

Holmes said, “Welcome back. Glad to see you again. Especially glad to see you. I'm still alive, yes.

“And we have very unstable wheels on the chairs here, and we don't really like our chairs, do we? They're a bit slippery and wobbley, and I slipped and fell off mine.”

“This is not the first guest who fell like this, we have had several similar cases, the names of which are not disclosed, since they are famous people, but they fell quite seriously, it was quite scary.

“And it was a bit of a shock to me because I had a fall in the bathroom two weeks ago that sent me to hospital, and it's back. (I'm) in a lot of, a lot of pain. A lot of pain.”

He later noted that the chair “gave way”, causing him to end up on his back.

He added: “In the morning you feel pain and discomfort. The worst thing, of course, is that it happened at the same time when I was in hospital two weeks ago for a very similar fall in the same area, the back of the head, neck, shoulders. So it all came back, so to speak.”

On X, formerly known as Twitter, Rowley wrote: “@EamonnHolmes YOU are a hero for continuing to work this morning. A true professional and a national treasure who I learn from every week. It's an honour to work with you, @elliecostelloTV and the entire @GBNEWS family. Take care!”

In a May 2 Instagram post featuring a photo from inside an ambulance, Holmes expressed gratitude to the crew who helped him after he fell to the bathroom floor.

The former This Morning presenter had long suffered health problems after suffering from slipped discs in his spine, which he said previously affected his sciatic nerve and affected the mobility of his right leg.
