‘Black Panther’ Opening: Saudi Arabia Lifting Decades-Long Ban on Movie Theaters

This initiative is part of ongoing programme “vision 2030”, led by the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman for social reforms in the conservative Kingdom.

The blockbuster Disney “the Black Panther” will be shown on the screening test in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, officially lifting the 35-year-old ban on cinemas in the country.

The screening test will consist of a series of trial runs before the film will be available to the General public in may.

“This is the first in a series of test screenings, which were attended by industry experts, which will be held… to support final preparations for the opening of the cinema to the General public,” Center of information Ministry for international communication said.

Earlier in April, Saudi authorities announced their decision to open the first cinema in over three decades in the capital, Riyadh, an initiative that comes to life on Wednesday.
