US, Russia Likely to Go to Mars Together, Former NASA Astronaut Says

Colorado springs (Sputnik) – the United States and Russia are on track to jointly explore deep space and is likely to fly to Mars together, former NASA astronaut Ronald M. Sega said Satellite.

“I think we are on the way to work together to go to different places in space. Mars is a logical milestone forward,” said Segal. “We have another way to get there. Maybe on the moon or something like that. It seems to me that we will go to Mars, in the end, we’ll probably do it together.”

When asked about the future of Russian-American cooperation in space amid the deterioration of relations between the two countries, Sega said: “we have always worked together in space.”

“Scientists and so on worked together in space, even in the types of UPS and downs that people can be”, said Saga.

Sega celebrated its first space flight with Russian cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev on space Shuttle discovery in 1994. He described the flight as “a great experience” and added that “it is better to cooperate with those in the space community.”

“We are moving together in knowledge, and knowledge should be available to help a lot of people,” said Saga. “We did much better in terms of communication with each other because communication satellites. We did much better in terms of meteorological satellites and so the place was very favorable for the people. I think that if we continue to do that it helps many people.”

Despite the deterioration of relations between Russia and the United States, space cooperation continues. In September, Roscosmos and NASA have agreed to build a gateway for future deep space missions to lunar orbit. The segment gateway that Russia intends to build will serve as a way for Astronauts going on spacewalks.

In March, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia plans manned and unmanned space launches to explore deep space, to the moon and exploration of Mars. The first lunar mission could occur as early as next year.

Russia also plans to look for traces of life on Mars with the European space Agency.
