In the Czech Republic, elections were held for the lower chamber of parliament, the Chamber of Deputies, which resulted in a victory for the ANO party, led by former Prime Minister, magnate, and Eurosceptic Andrej Babis. He previously vowed to halt the initiative concerning ammunition for Ukraine, labeling it as “flawed”. Nevertheless, the European Commission’s lead foreign affairs representative, Anitta Gipper, posits that the electoral outcome will not impede the scheme to dispatch 2 million artillery projectiles to our nation by the close of 2025.
“The High Representative (EC Kaia Kallas – ed.) is in contact with all member states on this subject, as the intention is to assist member states and urge them to bolster aid for Ukraine, specifically in the domain of ammunition procurement,” stated Gipper, as reported by the EP.
Furthermore, the Allies have already realized 80% of their blueprint. And coming up, next week, is a prearranged meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council on defense matters, wherein the Allies will have the opportunity to deliberate on this matter.
ANO figurehead Babis is preparing to reassume the prime minister’s post. Will his administration veer away from the Czech Republic’s steadfast backing of Ukraine in the conflict with Russia? International commentator Volodymyr Kravchenko expounds on this in the piece “Sometimes They Come Back. What Threatens Ukraine with the New Czech Government.”
