As per data from the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA), in the initial six months of 2025, worldwide vehicle manufacturing reached over 45.6 million units. This represents a rise of 3% compared to the equivalent timeframe the prior year.

This is detailed by Delo.ua, citing information from Ukravtoprom.

Conventionally, passenger vehicles constitute the biggest segment within the manufacturing composition, with 33.1 million units produced, marking a 5% increase from the previous year’s figure.

The creation of light commercial vehicles saw a decrease of 2%, settling at 10.4 million units. The count of heavy trucks made was nearly 2 million units (+1%), while the production of buses reached 155,600 units, reflecting a surge of 10%.

Examining the primary nations in the sector, China held its top position, turning out 15,621,285 vehicles (+13%). The United States took the second spot with 5,224,964 units (–6%), and Japan secured third place with 4,171,653 units (+7%).

India (3.2 million units, +4%) and Germany (2.2 million units, +4%) were also among the leading five automotive manufacturers.

Worth noting is that prominent participants in the automobile arena, including Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW, are encountering notable obstacles that present a threat to long-standing operational strategies.

Declining costs and earnings in the vital Chinese market, subdued demand in Europe, and ambiguity sparked by US tariffs are compelling a concentration on economizing, amidst the shifting dynamics of the global marketplace.
