GOP Sen. Mitch McConnell, age 83, stumbled to the floor in a Capitol corridor Thursday afternoon on his way to cast Senate votes.
McConnell, who revealed this past February his intention to not run again, collapsed as two volunteers from the environmental advocacy organization Sunrise Movement approached and posed a query to the senator regarding Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations. He offered no response to their inquiry.
The senator appeared shaky, but stood up and continued onward with the assistance of his security. Subsequently, he gestured to the pair who were questioning him.
The Senate was conducting a series of votes Thursday pertaining to the government impasse, currently in its 16th day. Following the incident, McConnell participated in voting and is anticipated to vote later in the day as well.
