Recently, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine gave Ukrainians hope by stating that prices in Ukraine fell slightly in July, mainly due to lower prices for vegetables. It is possible that Ukrainians will soon be able to see cheaper vegetables at retail, primarily carrots, tomatoes, and zucchini.
VIDEO OF THE DAY
This is evidenced by the weekly monitoring data of the EastFruit company, and tomatoes remain the best-selling product – every 8th vegetable offer on the market concerns tomatoes. Moreover, it is the latter product that has fallen in price the most.
So, if on August 15, 1 kg of tomatoes in bulk cost 22-50 hryvnias, then on August 22, prices fell to 15-38 hryvnias. Zucchini also became noticeably cheaper — from 15-28 to 10-25 hryvnias per kilogram during the same period. Another vegetable that became cheaper was carrots, although its wholesale price decreased insignificantly — from 11-13 to 10-13 hryvnias/kg.
It should be noted that the retail price for these vegetables in Ukraine, according to the Ministry of Finance portal, is:

- from 62 to 72 hryvnias for tomatoes;
- 16 hryvnias for 1 kg of carrots.
At the same time, the prices of beets, sweet peppers, Beijing cabbage and cauliflower increased. The average cost of 1 kilogram of beets increased the least from this list, by only 1 hryvnia (from 9−12 to 10−12 hryvnia), while other vegetables became more expensive by an average of 15 hryvnia per week (sweet peppers up to a maximum of 60 hryvnia, Beijing cabbage up to 45 hryvnia and cauliflower up to 65 hryvnia).
So far, there are no special trends for changing the situation on the market; rather, on the contrary, given the supply of tomatoes, their prices will continue to fall.
As “FACTY” reported, despite the drought in Ukraine, the harvests of the main borscht crops are good.
