Trump tells Houthi rebels they will be 'destroyed' by airstrikes in Yemen

US President Donald Trump has warned Yemen's Houthi rebels that they will be “completely destroyed” as American airstrikes hit areas under their control, while putting further pressure on the group's main sponsor, Iran.

According to the Houthi satellite news channel Al-Maisra, strikes were carried out on Yemen's capital, Sanaa, and their base in Saada, located in the northwest of the country, on Wednesday evening.

The broadcast showed footage of firefighters battling a blaze in Sanaa, as well as damage to what the channel said was a sheep farm in Al-Jawf.

The strikes were also reported to have taken place on Tuesday night, although the US military has not provided precise details of the locations of the attacks since the operation began.

The first airstrikes this weekend killed at least 53 people, including children, and injured several others.

After the attacks, Mr Trump wrote on his Truth Social account that “the Houthi barbarians have suffered significant damage.”

“Watch how the situation will get worse. This is not even a fair fight, and it never will be,” he added.
