The foreign Ministers of the G7 back in the UK, accusing Russia Skripal attack

G7 Foreign Ministers Back UK in Blaming Russia for Skripal Attack

Washington (Sputnik) – the foreign Ministers of the group of seven (G7) industrialized countries have supported Britain on charges that Russia is responsible for poisoning former Russian spy and his daughter with nerve gas, said in a joint statement adopted at the meeting in Canada.

“We share and agree with, the United Kingdom estimates that it is highly likely that the Russian Federation bears responsibility for the attack and that there is no plausible explanation,” the statement read on Monday.

Reportedly, Sergei Skripal, a former Colonel in the GRU, and his daughter Julia, was the target of an assassination attempt on nerve gas last month in Salisbury, England.

The United Kingdom immediately blamed Russia for the attack on Skripals and claimed that Soviet nerve preparation was used in the poisoning.

Russia denies role in poisoning, pointing out the lack of evidence to justify their accusations, and was looking for samples of chemicals used.

In addition, Russia has offered to participate in a joint investigation in accordance with international law, but was rejected.

The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov has told Bi-bi-si, last weekend, the Swiss laboratories under contract with the organization for the prohibition of chemical weapons (OPCW) established the presence of another nerve gas, BZ, in the sample from the United Kingdom. Lavrov said that BZ was developed in the USA in 1950-ies.
