A sample vote count released by Singapore's Elections Department showed the long-ruling People's Action Party (PAP) again clinched a significant victory in Saturday's election.
The calculations showed that the People's Action Party (PAP) confidently holds 82 of the 93 seats.
The party had previously won five seats without competition, giving the PND 87 seats in the expanded parliament.
Following the 2020 elections, the party won 83 seats.
A sample count showed the opposition Workers' Party retaining 10 seats.
The result will strengthen Prime Minister Lawrence Wong's hand in his first election test since taking office a year ago.
The count is based on a random sample of 100 ballots from each polling station. The results are not final and are intended to reduce speculation and misinformation during the vote count. Full results are expected to be released later Saturday.
The MHP had been expected to extend its 66-year rule in the city-state without much difficulty, but the election is being closely watched to see whether the opposition can make further gains amid discontent with the government's tight grip and high living costs.
Mr Wong, a US-trained economist who is also finance minister, called for strong action to support trade-reliant Singapore amid economic uncertainty caused by US President Donald Trump's tariff hikes.
The government has cut its trade forecasts and warned of a possible recession.
