In Ukraine, as reported by the Ministry of Social Policy, almost every fifth pensioner receives special pensions. These are people who worked in six areas: miners, prosecutors, judges, “Chernobyl workers”, and persons discharged from military service.

And so, on October 8, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to check one of the specified categories – Chernobyl survivors, who are entitled to receive an allowance of 2,361 hryvnia, according to the government website.
What the resolution says can be understood from its full title: “On the implementation of a pilot project on entering into the register of a territorial community information about the periods and place of residence of a person who has the status of a victim of the Chernobyl disaster, in the zone of unconditional (mandatory) resettlement or in the zone of guaranteed voluntary resettlement as of April 26, 1986 or in the period from April 26, 1986 to January 1, 1993.”
In other words, the Cabinet of Ministers is introducing a check on pensioners who apply for pension supplements. And special commissions will evaluate the confirmation of periods and places of residence of citizens. Some pensioners will be checked for the legality of receiving special pension supplements. After the check, only those pensioners for whom the periods and places of permanent residence of victims of the Chernobyl disaster, which give the right to receive additional payments, will receive the supplement.
