Thousands of protesters have marched through central London in a new demonstration in support of the Palestinians.
Protesters organised by the Palestine Coalition, which includes the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) and Stop The War, gathered at 1pm in Piccadilly near Green Park station before heading to Whitehall for an open-air rally.
A smaller counter-protest organised by the Stop The Hate group took place on Coventry Street, near Piccadilly Circus.
The groups were separated by barriers and a police-guarded area as they passed.
Pro-Palestinian protesters marched holding placards and banners with slogans such as “Stop arming Israel” and “Open your eyes, Keir, look at what Israel is doing.”
The Metropolitan Police imposed conditions for both events under the Public Order Act, which required pro-Palestinian demonstrators not to gather before 12pm and for the procession to stick to a designated route.
