Pakistan's Foreign Minister said his country was ready to consider de-escalation, provided India stopped its attacks.
Ishaq Dar's statements came after India reiterated its commitment to de-escalation if Pakistan responded in kind.
The two sides exchanged blows on Saturday, the latest escalation in tensions sparked by recent carnage that India blames on Pakistan.
Mr Dar also warned that if India continues its attacks, “we will respond accordingly.”
The foreign minister shared the information with Pakistan's Geo News TV channel, adding that he had also conveyed the message to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio after speaking with New Delhi two hours ago.
“We reacted because our patience had reached its limit. If they stop here, we will also consider stopping,” he said.
The Indian side said it had struck Pakistani military bases in retaliation for several high-speed missiles fired by Islamabad at several Indian air bases in Punjab state.
Pakistan had previously claimed to have intercepted most of the missiles aimed at the three air bases and that retaliatory strikes on India were already underway.
