No Final Decision on US Response to Syria, Still Assessing Intel - White House

Washington (Sputnik) – President Donald trump has not yet made a decision on how to respond to alleged chemical attack against civilians in Syria and continued to look at intelligence information, press Secretary of the White house Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement on Thursday.

“President trump just finished a meeting with his national security team to discuss the situation in Syria. No final decision. We continue to Asses [SIC] of intelligence and participate in conversations with our partners and allies,” Sanders said Thursday.

Earlier in the day, trump tweeted that he did not say when the attack on Syria will take place in response to the alleged chemical attack, and the attack may be soon, or not soon all.

The tweet was markedly different from the other message trump issued via Twitter the day before, in which he said that Russia must prepare for new and “smart” missiles that will be coming to Syria. The US President also criticized Russia for cooperation with “the murder gas animal”, referring to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

On Saturday, several Syrian opposition online news portals reported citing the militants that the Syrian government forces used chlorine in the city Council, and killed up to 70 people.

The Syrian government denies it used chemical weapons, saying the attack was supposedly organized terrorist group Jaish al-Islam as a pretext for a possible external intervention in Syria.

The Russian Centre for reconciliation in Syria on Sunday strongly denied reports of a chemical attack in the Duma. Representatives of the center visited the site of the alleged assault and was questioned by local doctors, who say they have not received individuals with symptoms of chemical poisoning.
