JK Rowling has drawn parallels between Nicole Sturgeon and US President Donald Trump, as well as Twilight character Bella Swan, in her scathing critique of the former Scottish Prime Minister's memoir.
The Harry Potter author accused Ms Sturgeon of being “clearly Trumpist in her views, shamelessly ignoring reality and hard facts” on issues relating to transgender and women's rights.
The author has repeatedly criticised the former SNP leader and her stance on gender identity.
In a nearly 3,000-word review published on her own website, she accuses Ms Sturgeon, who spearheaded the gender reform legislation at Holyrood, of holding “luxurious beliefs” that cause “real, long-term harm” to women.
Rowling shared her review of X along with an image that appears to have been generated by artificial intelligence, showing Ms Sturgeon in a forest alongside a wolf and a vampire.
Of the politician's memoir, “Frankly,” she noted: “She still stubbornly believes that some men should be allowed into women's spaces with their consent, while other men are not.”
“She denies that there are any risks associated with gender identity politics.
“She cannot imagine any male predator taking advantage of such a policy, even though it has obviously happened many times.
“She is clearly Trumpian in her brazen denial of reality and facts.”
Rowling, who lives in Edinburgh, said the Glasgow Southside MP was “not at all humiliated” by the Supreme Court ruling that the UK Equality Act defined sex as biological sex.
The Gender Recognition Reform (Scotland) Act, passed by Parliament, was eventually repealed by Westminster because the then Tory government claimed it contravened equality legislation.
In her book, Ms Sturgeon claimed she had never faced so much abuse as after Rowling posted a picture on social media of herself wearing a T-shirt with the slogan “Nicola Sturgeon is a destroyer of women's rights”.
The former prime minister said the post left her feeling “at greater risk of potential physical harm”.
