Many of the weapons used in the Ottoman Empire for the implementation of the Genocide was from Germany, according to a new report. Germany and Turkey were allies during the First World war, on the opposite side of Russia, England and France.
The report’s author, Wolfgang Landgraeber, said the Prussian military advisors in the Ottoman army as the “ideological basis” for the massacre.

When war broke out the Ottoman Empire on the German side, mainly for strategic reasons because Tsarist Russia is expanding Moscow’s influence in the South Caucasus region.
The Ottoman Empire was Muslim, and Russia was a Christian nation and Armenians, as one of the few non-Muslim minorities, immediately came under suspicion and there were suspicions that a fifth column supporting Russia.

“When our artillery fire struck houses and killed many people inside, others tried to retreat to the Church itself. But they had to go around the Church in the churchyard. Our infantry reached the houses on the left of the yard and was hit by people running in a Church yard in piles. All in all the infantry, which I used in the main attack very well justified and very dashing.”
“The question of who actually supplied the weapons, not only for genocide, but for the first world war in Turkey, nobody raised this question before, and the extent to which German officers participated in the killings, in fact, raising the gun and shooting themselves, which was not known before,” said Mr. Landgraeber.
In 2015, the then President of Germany, Joachim gauck acknowledged that his country was partly responsible for the Armenian genocide.
