Astronomer, whose top executive resigned after he was caught on KissCam hugging a woman who was not his wife at a Coldplay rock concert, is trying to get over an incident involving a man who knows the band well.
Actress Gwyneth Paltrow, who was married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin for 13 years, announced on Friday that Astronomer has hired her as her spokeswoman.
Astronomer, a New York-based tech firm, found itself in the spotlight when two of its executives were caught on camera in a close embrace at a Coldplay concert – a moment that was then displayed on the stadium's big screen.
CEO Andy Byron and HR director Christine Cabot were surprised when Martin asked cameras to scan the crowd during a concert earlier this month.
“Either they're having an affair or they're very shy,” Martin noted as the pair appeared on screen and quickly tried to hide their faces.
In a short video, the Shakespeare in Love and Iron Man star revealed that she had been hired as a “temporary” representative for Astronomer.
“Astronomer has had a lot of questions over the last few days, and they wanted me to answer the most common ones,” Paltrow said, smiling and deftly avoiding mention of the KissCam fuss.
“We are very pleased that so many people have shown renewed interest in data automation,” she added.
“We will now get back to what we do best – delivering breakthrough results for our clients.”
When the KissCam footage first appeared online, it wasn't immediately clear who exactly the couple was.
Soon after, the company revealed their identities and Byron resigned, followed by Cabot.
The video has sparked a flood of memes, parody videos and screenshots of their shocked expressions filling social media feeds.
Online streams of Coldplay's songs increased by 20% in the days after the video went viral, according to industry data analytics company Luminate.
