Arab Journalist on Syria Strike: 'This Was an Attack of Three Mafia Gangs'

Aktham Suliman, an Arab journalist who has worked on “al-Jazeera” for about ten years, warned of the dire consequences of Western airstrikes in Syria in an interview with sputnik Germany.

Mafia-Like Behavior

Syria was attacked by three Western “Mafia groups” correspondent and political analyst Aktham Suliman told sputnik, referring to airstrikes launched by the United States, the United Kingdom and France against Syria in the night of Friday.

“There is no reason in the world to attack a country like Syria is now,” said the journalist.

According to him, the decision was made by the Western countries in advance and the alleged use of chemical weapons in the city Duma was used only as a pretext.

“It was mafia-like behavior is not normal behavior state. It’s scary. This is not about Syria. If these decisions are to act thus, even in domestic politics, they will lead us to world war. This affects not only Syrians, but rather the entire world,” said Suliman.

The reaction in Syria

The journalist said that many people in Syria watched the attack from the roofs and balconies of their houses. After that, many went on with their daily lives.

“People are used to the war after seven years. They have developed internal psychological mechanisms to deal with it. Syria is full of jokes about Donald trump, Theresa may, about this whole gang — on the Internet and social media. It shows how resistant these people and do not want to give up. They laugh about it, don’t take it seriously. They see it as a new episode of a very long, ongoing movie,” the journalist said.

At the same time, Suliman is deeply concerned that the Western countries have once again violated international law and interfered in the territory of a foreign state.

“If you released 95% of the territory, not to use chemical weapons, to release the remaining five percent. That doesn’t work, especially the laws of physics. When the wind comes, all [the chemicals] it would be carried to the capital, Damascus, three, four kilometers. My problem in this whole story is really physics, not chemistry. Some people go so far with their propaganda that they did not even bother to come up with a plausible story,” Suliman concluded.

“Irrational” behavior of the West

Suliman is sure that such attacks will not benefit anyone in Syria, even the opposition groups.

At the same time, he confirmed that the majority of the population of Syria continues to support President Bashar al-Assad.

“You can, however, make you want, but it’s a fact,” Suliman said, adding that, apparently, Western countries are not interested in the opinions of the Syrian people. “We are talking about a large, geostrategic interests,” he concluded.

In the night of Friday, the United States, the United Kingdom and France began air strikes against Syria because of reports of chemical attack in Eastern ghouta-it thinks.

Western countries accuse the Syrian government of involvement in the alleged chemical attack, while Damascus denied the charges.
