“We'll win this race too.” The US has developed a clever AI plan.

The White House released a plan for developing artificial intelligence on Wednesday, opposing regulations and combating disinformation, and also embracing American “dominance” in this area and the creation of an international alliance led by Washington. The plan calls for denying US adversaries access to the technology.

A document published Wednesday, authored by the president's advisors, including David Sacks, a former Silicon Valley investor and Elon Musk ally, speaks to the need to “win the race” for AI dominance. It calls for reduced state and federal regulations, massive investments in AI infrastructure and energy, and the creation of an international alliance led by the US.

Just as we won the space race, the United States and its allies must absolutely win this race, the authors urge.

Unlike the strategy adopted by the Joe Biden administration, the document makes virtually no mention of the need to ensure the security of AI systems. It calls for abandoning regulations limiting disinformation or mentioning climate change. Instead, entities involved in building AI systems are to focus on promoting free speech and American values.

The plan also talks about ensuring that American technology and systems dominate the world.

The United States must meet the global demand for AI by exporting its entire AI technology stack – hardware, models, software, applications, and standards – to all countries willing to join the U.S. AI Alliance.

“Failing to meet this demand would be an unjustified mistake that would lead these countries to turn to our rivals,” the authors warn.

The plan also calls for strengthening export controls on sensitive technologies and advanced semiconductors, and monitoring them to prevent them from reaching America's adversaries via third countries.

The document's publication follows an executive order issued by President Trump, which mandates a blueprint for U.S. dominance in the field of AI. On Wednesday, Trump will deliver a speech on this topic at the AI Summit in Washington.
