Former England international Paul Gascoigne is recovering at home after being discharged from hospital.
The 58-year-old, from Poole, Dorset, was admitted to intensive care on Friday after a friend found him semi-conscious.
However, his management company confirmed that he has already been discharged and is on his way to being rehabilitated at home.
In a statement, MNT said: “Paul voluntarily went to the emergency room on Friday after suffering from a throat problem for some time (not in an emergency room setting). He has since returned home and is doing well.”
Gascoigne, who made 57 appearances for his country, was found by Steve Foster, his driver and personal assistant, and taken to a hospital.
He was treated by intensive care staff and then transferred to the emergency department, where his condition was considered stable. He has now been discharged.
Born in Gateshead, Gascoigne became known as one of the most talented footballers of his generation, making his name at Newcastle and then playing for Tottenham, Lazio, Rangers, Middlesbrough and Everton.
However, life off the field was sometimes difficult, and his struggles with alcohol addiction and depression were well documented.
