In September of 2025, noteworthy dynamics were observed within the local second-hand auto market: service centers operating under the Ministry of Internal Affairs documented 72.4 thousand deals involving sales and purchases. While this amount is down by 3.5% contrasted with August of 2025, it exceeds the volume of transactions made in September of 2024 by 1.9%.

This is according to a report by Delo.ua, referencing information sourced from the Institute for Auto Market Research.

In the preceding month, Volkswagen clearly led the domestic market for resales . The make outperformed its immediate rival by a margin of more than double, underscoring persistent confidence in the German automaker, lauded “for its dependability, straightforwardness, and ease of maintenance.”

Following Volkswagen in the overall standings are: VAZ, BMW, Renault, and Skoda, where the competition for rank is “literally separated by merely a few dozen vehicles.” The listing continues with the consistently favoured Audi, Toyota, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, and Nissan, encompassing demands from diverse sectors: “spanning from economical to superior, from gasoline-powered to hybrid or electric models.”

In terms of models with mileage, the Volkswagen Passat again took the lead in September, significantly surpassing the other participants in the ranking. Unexpectedly, the Daewoo Lanos (including related versions such as Sens or L-1300) came in second, signaling a “resurgence of interest in affordable vehicles.” Skoda Octavia, a model that “has consistently stood out for its solid equilibrium between cost and attributes,” secured the third spot. The Volkswagen Golf also earned a place among the leaders.

The Renault Megane led the subsequent group in the top ten, encompassing perennial favorites: the BMW 5th and 3rd series, the practical Ford Focus and Opel Astra, along with the compact Skoda Fabia.

As underscored by analysts, the average duration of service for automobiles in the used marketplace remained constant last month, at 15.5 years.

In conclusion, regarding the premium tier: during September, 2 Lamborghinis, 2 Aston Martins, 4 Rolls-Royces, 11 Maseratis, and 8 Bentleys transitioned to new proprietors.

The most seasoned passenger vehicle to change hands was a vintage Mercedes-Benz 170 V originating from 1938. This “passenger vehicle, aged 87, not only switched owners but also achieved a noteworthy milestone: affirming that genuine excellence transcends age.” The black sedan, powered by a 1,700 cc gasoline engine (originally producing 38 hp), is “an emblem of resilience that once rescued Mercedes-Benz.”

Previously, it has been indicated that the fuel type distribution within the Ukrainian passenger vehicle sector is showcasing evident transformations. While gasoline had historically been the undisputed frontrunner, presently, an increasing number of motorists are directing their attention towards electric cars and hybrid alternatives.
