The Central Electoral Commission has prolonged the period for document submission for the registration of Tetyana Chornovol as a Ukrainian Member of Parliament for another year. This was communicated on the commission’s Facebook account.
It is pointed out that on September 18, the CEC acknowledged Chornovol as the chosen parliamentarian who will substitute Andriy Parubiy, who perished in Lviv, within the Verkhovna Rada . Nevertheless, on October 6, the deputy addressed the commission, requesting an extension of the submission period for paperwork by one year. The justification was her military duty within the Security and Defense Forces, which hindered her from submitting the documents within the typical 20-day timeframe.
The CEC deemed the reasons legitimate and extended the deadline for registration until October 6, 2026, inclusively.
As a reminder, Parubiy was fatally shot in broad daylight on August 30, in the center of a Lviv street. The individual suspected of the homicide, Mykhailo Stelnikov, was apprehended on the night of September 1 in the Khmelnytskyi region.
