The execution was entrusted to the production Code Administration, headed by a devout Catholic Joseph Breen. For many decades, the PCA required for the approval of every line of dialogue, every costume and every poster for every movie that I wanted their approval. And as Professor Thomas Doherty told me: “joining the Production code was not mandatory.” Without the approval of the PCA, your movie is ready.
