EV Imports to Ukraine Surge, Primarily from China

According to data from the State Statistics Service, Ukraine imported 61.7 thousand electric passenger cars (BEVs) from January to August 2025. This figure is 52% higher compared to the equivalent period of the previous year.

Delo.ua reports this information citing Ukravtoprom.

It is worth noting that the total customs value of these vehicles reached nearly $1.27 billion.

Within this volume, 14.1 thousand cars were brand new (+26%), while 47.6 thousand were pre-owned (+62%).

The overall customs value of the new electric vehicles totaled $363.5 million, with the import of used electric vehicles accounting for $906.3 million.

Where do they originate from?

As per analysts’ evaluations, the major proportion of new electric vehicles (92%) came from China.

Japan holds the second position (3%), and Germany ranks third (2%).

Conversely, the United States was the leading supplier of used electric vehicles (40%).

South Korea occupies the second place with 16%, and Germany follows with 15%.

It is worth mentioning that in September 2025, the Volkswagen ID.Unyx electric crossover was the most sought-after new passenger car in Ukraine for the first time—Ukrainians procured 432 units of this model.

The interest in electric cars is consistently growing in Ukraine annually.
