As of August 2025, the median age of privately owned automobiles within Ukraine’s internal market stood at 16.1 years.
This information is provided by Delo.ua, citing data from the Institute for Automotive Market Studies.
The figure shows substantial variation depending on the area: ranging from 11.2 years in the capital city to above 19 years in the southern and eastern parts of the country.
Regional Analysis
The most recent vehicles are operated in Kyiv — at 11.2 years, as well as in the Transcarpathian and Lviv regions — at 14.7 years. Within the capital, this is attributed to elevated purchasing capabilities, and in the western regions — to closeness to the boundary and accessibility to European automobiles.
The most dated vehicle fleets are located in the Kherson (19.3 years) and Donetsk (19.2 years) regions. Financial difficulties and the repercussions of the conflict are having an impact.
Information from the Luhansk region and temporarily occupied Crimea is unavailable.
Therefore, in Kyiv and the regions near the EU border, autos are considerably newer, whereas in the east and south, the vehicle collection is generally 4–8 years older.
This influences the automotive service industry, the security level, and the prevalence of contemporary technologies on roadways.
As a reminder, during the initial seven months of 2025, Ukraine imported 224.5 thousand passenger vehicles (both new and pre-owned), indicating a 17% increase compared to the equivalent period in the prior year.
