Three things we learned from Liverpool win over man city

Liverpool secured an impressive 3-0 win over man city in the Champions League final first leg. Ger McCarthy looks at what the game has taught us.

Klopp has a number of Guardiola

Before the match Jurgen Klopp has held the enviable record of six wins and a draw from his twelve games of the Premier League with PEP Guardiola. No one, including the German, were able to anticipate the opening 45 minutes in which his side will tear the town apart and score three times without reply.

Single loss of Prime Liverpool struck the city League at the end of the season, being brave and going straight for the throat. Klopp has given his new club with hard work, enthusiasm and self-confidence, bordering on arrogance, but never were those traits more effectively than in the Champions League final.

Injury MO Salah from each other tie, but it’s all because of the manner in which I’m sure Klopp’s team beat Champions elect of the Premier League spirit. The Liverpool team is playing without fear one to be feared, the rest of the competition.

And you, PEP?

PEP Guardiola suffered heavy losses during a successful management career, but rarely more profound than at Anfield in the Champions League.

It was only when MO Salah went from injured and Liverpool tired after the first half of the effort that Manchester city resembled something of a team which overpowered almost every opponent this season.

Until then, Guardiola appeared shell-shocked, as unbalanced his side and looked unable to stop the “red tide”, never ceasing to attack the gates of the city. It is clear that Jurgen Klopp learned more than PEP Guardiola after the previous visit of the citizen.

Manchester city will likely be crowned Champions of the Premier League within the next seven days, but the club that spent over €1 billion in the last decade, we should expect more from such a generous cost.

The owners of the city brought PEP Guardiola to deliver success in Europe, but may have to wait a little longer after the humiliating defeat at Anfield.

Unsung heroes

It is not surprising that Kevin de Bruyne and MO Salah dominated the pre-match layouts as outstanding performers in their clubs since the start of the 2017-18 campaign.

Although de bruyne and Salah are the main contenders in this year’s best Premier League player of the year award he was the unsung heroes, “Liverpool”, which made the biggest impact in their stunning victory in the Champions League.

Alex oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner hunger and energy rubbed off on his companions, disrupting the rhythm of the city from the first minute. The importance of the Duo on their side was the best example of a 21st minute goal to Liverpool when thundering install call Milner oxlade-Chamberlain to thump home.

Add to that, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andrew Robertson and confident Loris Karius and the starting lineup of Liverpool never looked as solid since the appointment of Jurgen Klopp.
