Liverpool set to top £200m in player sales as Ben Doak joins Bournemouth

Liverpool are aiming to break the £200m barrier in player sales this summer, with young winger Ben Doak on the brink of a move to Bournemouth.

The 19-year-old is close to agreeing a £25m move to the south coast club, PA reports.

Doak, who joined Celtic for £600,000 in 2022, has made 10 appearances for the Reds in two years and spent all of last season on loan at Championship side Middlesbrough, where he scored three goals in 24 games.

The summer transfer window saw the club part ways with Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Caoimhin Kelleher and Jarrell Quansach, with the proceeds helping to recoup the £300m+ spend on the signings.

The figure could rise further as Liverpool remain interested in Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi and Newcastle forward Alexander Isak, which would require an investment of at least £150m.

The list of departures is expected to grow: Kostas Tsimikas, who lost his position as third-choice left-back to the arrival of Milos Kerkez and was not included in the squad for the match against Bournemouth, is being considered for a move to Nottingham Forest.

Midfielder Harvey Elliott remains in talks with RB Leipzig, with the German club set to make a formal offer once the future of Chelsea's Xavi Simons is confirmed.

The media reports that West Ham had previously shown interest in the England youth international, but now the Bundesliga seems to be the most promising direction for him.
