Liverpool in advanced talks over signing Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong

Liverpool have held initial discussions over signing Dutch defender Jeremie Frimpong, according to PA news agency.

The Bayer Leverkusen right-back is considered one of the hottest names in Europe and is believed to be of interest to the Reds, although sources say talks are at an early stage.

According to sources, the obvious 'domino factor' that could increase Liverpool's interest would be a move for Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid, with reports already emerging that an agreement has been reached for him to join the European champions.

Frimpong, 24, began his career at Manchester City but has made an impressive impact at Bayer since joining from Celtic in 2021, helping the team win the Bundesliga title last season and reach the Europa League final.

Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea are also reported to have shown interest in Frimpong.

He was also part of the Netherlands team that reached the semi-finals of Euro 2024.

Liverpool have been approached for comment.
