Eoin Morgan has praised Jofra Archer for his commitment to returning to injury-free form following his impressive performance in the third one-day international against South Africa.

Sky Sports' Eoin Morgan has praised Jofra Archer for his commitment to returning from injury after the fast bowler produced a superb performance in England's win over South Africa in the third one-day international.

Archer (4-18) struck his second blow of England's innings, dismissing South Africa opener Aiden Markram (0), and then tore through the first-team, also dismissing Ryan Rickelton (1), Matthew Breetzke (4) and Tristan Stubbs (10).

Archer backed England's performance as 21-year-old Jacob Bethell scored his first professional century with a superb long-range delivery in 20.5 overs as the hosts won by a record 342 runs.

“It's fast, it's quick, it's accurate and there aren't many bowlers in the world who have that skill set,” Morgan told Sky Sports Cricket.

“Jofra Archer has just demonstrated the reason why we value him so highly compared to most other bowlers, both in the England team and around the world.

Highlights of the third one-dayer: England thrashed South Africa by a record 342 thanks to Jacob Bethell's maiden professional hundred and a superb performance from Archer.

“He has the ability to turn the game on its head on any given day and he has spent so much time injured and out of action and looking forward we know he can still do that no matter the format.”

“There were questions about whether he would return to Test cricket and how his body would respond? How would he recover? How would they manage his return, given that they had to think about the Ashes and the World Cup?”

“They did it perfectly. All credit goes to Rob Key [managing director of England men's cricket], Brendon McCullum [head coach of England] and all the medical and technical staff.”

“But most of all, Archer, because without his will, desire and fight to get back into shape and show his readiness for all formats, we won’t have days like today.”

After his side's record-breaking One-Day International win against South Africa, Harry Brook said England's performance was the benchmark the team should follow in the future.

Archer received the man of the match award for his stunning performance and said he was grateful for the opportunity to play in so many games in the series.

“Even before we bowled, I thought it was going to be tough because we just bowled 400 and any ball that hits 400 is a good wicket.

“I don't think I did anything differently. I tried to hit hard, bowl straight, that's all. Sometimes you bowl well and get wickets, and sometimes you don't.

“I just do what I do for the team, no matter how I do it. I think I did everything right, everything for the team.”

“It's a nice feeling. I didn't think I'd be playing this game because of the workload, so being able to play a few games in a row means a lot.”
