Bayern Munich will announce former player Niko Kovac as the next head coach

Bayern Munich have announced that former player Niko Kovac will be the next head coach of the club.

Currently, the Croatian boss Kovac “Eintracht”, but I will leave this post at the end of the season.

Sporting Director of Bayern Hasan Salihamidzic said: “Niko Kovac will be the new coach of Bayern from July 1. We have agreed a three-year contract (on Thursday)”.

Salihamidzic told the club website: “we are very fortunate that we could make Niko Kovac as the next Bayern coach.

“Nico was a player at Bayern, he knows the people and the structure and DNA of the club very well. We are convinced that he is the right coach for the future Bavaria”.

Bayern is headed by interim boss Jupp Heynckes in October, following the resignation of Carlo Ancelotti. They have won the Bundesliga title last Saturday with a 4-1 victory over Augsburg.

Moments after the announcement of the appointment of Kovacs, Bayern drawn to face real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final.

Frankfurt delayed their pre-match press conference on Friday, knowing that Kovacs will be leaving the club.

Kovacs was supposed to speak at 1 p.m. local time (12 PM local time), ahead of Saturday’s match against Bayer Leverkusen, but was postponed for two hours to sporting Director Fredi Bobic to accompany him. The club said that they will address ad Bayern.
