Alexander Isak has informed Newcastle of his intention to explore his options in the current transfer window; Liverpool were interested in Isak but ultimately signed Hugo Ekitike in a £79m deal; Sky Sports News' Keith Downie, Lyall Thomas and Mark McAdam answer the big questions surrounding Isak's future.
Alexander Isak's top five Premier League goals for Newcastle as he looks ahead to a possible move to Liverpool.
Alexander Isak has told Newcastle he wants to explore his options this summer, but what exactly are they and can Liverpool afford to sign him? Sky Sports News' Keith Downie, Lyall Thomas and Mark McAdam answer the big questions about his future.
Why now, when Liverpool have signed Hugo Ekitiike and Arsenal are close to signing Victor Diokeres?
Keith Downey from Sky Sports News:
Isak is disappointed to have been denied that opportunity last week when Liverpool made an informal offer. Ekitike, who was essentially supposed to be his replacement at Newcastle, moved to Liverpool. It was another door being closed for Isak.
Eddie Howe said something that stuck with me in his post-match press conference on Saturday after the friendly against Celtic. He said: “I am fully aware that a footballer's career is short.” He was probably told this by Isak or his representatives.

I think Isak knows that after three years at Newcastle, scoring 62 goals and helping them win the League Cup last year, he has achieved what he wanted.
Isak's development is probably faster than the club's. I'm not saying he's outgrown Newcastle, but he's in a position where he can be one of the best strikers in Europe, playing for a team that, you might assume, has no real chance of winning the Premier League.
He is ambitious, he wants trophies and he believes he deserves a wage of between £250,000 and £300,000 a week. He is not getting that amount at Newcastle, although he knows other top Premier League strikers are earning similar amounts. I think he does not want to miss out on the opportunity to earn that kind of money.
Sky Sports News' Mark McAdam assesses whether Liverpool can still count on signing Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak despite only recently acquiring Hugo Ekitike.
Are Liverpool still interested in Isak?
Mark McAdam from Sky Sports News:
The fact that Liverpool made an offer last week suggests they were prepared
