A Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) H-IIB rocket carrying a HTV-9 Cargo Craft launched from Tanegashima Space Centre on Wednesday.
The rocket will make its way to the International Space Station where it will carry out a re-supply mission after docking on 25 May.
The spaceship will deliver about 5.5 tons of cargo, including food, as well as equipment and materials for dozens of scientific studies.
