President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the Patriot air defense element has been “bolstered” within Ukraine’s aerial defense capabilities. He conveyed his appreciation to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on social networks for this enhancement.
“We had been arranging this fortification of air defense for a while, and presently, the agreed-upon terms have been put into action. My gratitude to all who lent a hand!” the president penned.
In Zelenskyy’s view, aerial bombardments represent Vladimir Putin’s primary gambit in the conflict, as he seeks to “make up for the deficiency in accomplishing his irrational objectives on the battlefield” through intimidation. Consequently, the president went on, each enhancement to Ukraine’s air shield “unequivocally draws us nearer to the termination of the war.”
“In conjunction with our allies, we persist in our efforts to construct a dependable air defense infrastructure,” Zelenskyy underscored.
Zelenskyy had previously indicated that the United States and Ukraine are formulating an accord to procure 25 Patriot air defense installations. In his words, our nation will be furnished with these surface-to-air missile systems in differing numbers on a yearly basis.
