On Thursday, Karoline Leavitt, the White House spokesperson, detailed President Donald Trump's forthcoming journey to Asia — which involves a discussion with China’s President, Xi Jinping.
Trump is planned to embark on the journey Friday evening and will be stopping in Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea.
Next Thursday in Busan, South Korea, Trump will converse with Xi on the fringes of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit, Leavitt communicated during Thursday’s briefing from the White House.

The meeting is set after Trump shared earlier in the month he was going to put into effect fresh 100% taxes on Chinese imports.
Leavitt mentioned that Trump's Asia trip starts with a stop in Malaysia.
"The president will leave the White House to head to Malaysia tomorrow night at 11 p.m., where he is scheduled to arrive on Sunday morning local time. It is a lengthy flight," Leavitt stated during the White House press briefing on Thursday. "President Trump is expected to participate in a discussion between the countries with Malaysia’s Prime Minister in the afternoon, before attending the ASEAN leaders' working dinner that evening."
Leavitt conveyed that Trump will travel to Tokyo on Monday morning local time, and will have a bilateral discussion with Sanae Takaichi, Japan’s new prime minister.
Leavitt stated that Trump will then travel to Busan, where he will engage in a bilateral discussion with Lee Jae Myung, the president of South Korea.

In closing, Leavitt stated that Trump will participate in the bilateral conversation with Xi prior to heading back to Washington.
The two have encountered one another in the past — holding a discussion between the countries on the fringes of the G20 Summer in Osaka in 2019.
