President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is once more calling a gathering of the Servants of the People political group. While the specific day is still pending, the aim is to organize it in the coming week, according to Yaroslav Zheleznyak, a parliamentarian representing the Holos faction.
“Furthermore, this is unusual because, instead of seeking an audience, Zelenskyy is the one requesting it. The dates are still up in the air, but it will probably be Tuesday – Thursday, when the deputies will convene for a session of the Verkhovna Rada. Currently, everyone is being asked to submit their inquiries to the president beforehand,” stated Zheleznyak.
He emphasized that this represents almost the first instance of Zelenskyy deciding to assemble his party’s representatives twice in a four-week span.
According to Zheleznyak, the primary motivation behind the meeting is to showcase the firm support of the lawmakers for the president, especially in light of unfavorable media coverage following the prior gathering.
As of now, the representatives are uncertain about the topics to be discussed during the meeting, but they anticipate discussions around personnel adjustments, the budget, and the engagement of the deputies.
“It’s probable that the level of consensus among the deputies will remain unaffected post-meeting; many representatives might be hesitant to openly voice contentious matters,” Zheleznyak speculated.
Politico previously reported that Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during a confidential assembly of the Servant of the People faction on September 16, reproached deputies for publicly raising various critical concerns, including corruption, and declared his intention to participate “in any elections that happen afterward.” The deputies who spoke with the publication expressed apprehension about the “intensification of control” within the faction.
