Paul Ryan has no good answers for the ballooning deficits that happened under his watch

The speaker of the house Paul Ryan (R-Wi) sold himself as a wonk policy and budget hawk throughout his 20-year career in the house. Now Ryan retiring at the age of 48, after less than three years as speaker. He seems to have abandoned the principles he championed in his time in Congress — fiscal responsibility and budget savings, leaving a deficit of Aeronautics and Republican strife. On Sunday, NBC’s Chuck Todd asked Ryan about those deficits that have occurred through his fault; Ryan doesn’t do much else but shrug and blame the right and baby boomers. “What happens,” said Todd, before continuing:

Ryan’s comments came in response to comments from Senator Bob Corker (Republican, Tennessee), who also resigned that “this Congress and this administration will likely go down in history as one of the most financially irresponsible administration and Congress that we have ever had”. Todd Ryan pulled into this process — namely that the Republicans have this habit of passing tax breaks, and then figure out how to pay for them later. Ryan said of the budget process, in which he was involved for two decades, is “fundamentally broken” and needs to be recycled. Ryan thought trump would be the ticket on major legislation.

While Donald trump is not the first choice Ryan President, Ryan largely supported him and allowed him since last year’s inauguration. Part of why leaving Ryan, Tara, golshan acted VOX recently explained that trump was not the vehicle for major national legislative action, he suggested:

Before the end of his political career, Ryan admitted that in the end, he couldn’t change the government. “You know, one person will not solve all these things,” he said on Sunday. “I feel like I’ve done a lot to promote this issue.”
