The Note: Facebook's self-regulation failure

“Facebook Is the idealistic and optimistic of the company”, founder and CEO of Facebook mark Zuckerberg plans to tell Congress today.

It’s not particularly idealistic or optimistic times, of course. And if Facebook and its plan tech brothers, to use naivety as a shield, Zuckerberg and his colleagues will not find many or any friends on Capitol hill during a critical period for Silicon valley and its relations with Washington.

Two days of hearings in Congress, Zuckerberg has the experience value can be a key point in how great the technology, is working with the Federal politicians.

The era self-regulatory neglect seems to end in apparent failure, with a huge scandal data and blaring signs that Russia is again using information warfare to interfere in elections.

Zuckerberg will have to endure the loud few days, the lawmakers ventilation. But what happens next – after the sometimes unpredictable Congress and the administration to find a balance between privacy of communications and the free market – will Echo much longer.

After the FBI RAID on the home and offices of his personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, President, Donald trump is once again openly at war with the justice Department, calling the ongoing investigations that continue to strike in his inner circle “biased” and “disgraceful”.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, trump said he heard someone “hacked” offices of Cohen that makes it sound as if law enforcement is not only wrong, but also acting criminally.

Obviously, however, the fact that Federal prosecutors were able to obtain a search warrant, as it means that they persuaded the judge that may not be proof of criminal activity.

Andrew Harnik/AP, my lawyer FILEPresident Donald trump Michael Cohen appeared before the media after a meeting behind closed doors in the intelligence Committee of the Senate on Capitol hill in Washington, USA. 19 2017,.

Last week, the President has consolidated his relationship with Cohen, swimming all requests for payment of an adult film star to them. “My attorney, Michael, and you’ll have to ask Michael,” he said on his plane.

According to attorney Cohen, the FBI seized sensitive attorney-client communications during their raids. If this is true, this motion is not made lightly, and probably in error, especially when the client, probably, is not regular, but the President of the United States.

It’s been a whirlwind few days for the Republicans running to replace GOP Senator of Tennessee Bob Corker. On Saturday, the Republican party of Tennessee has announced that its state Executive Committee (TEC) “voted unanimously for the withdrawal of the contested candidates from the ballot…”

The SEC action will be to remove seven candidates in the U.S. Senate,“ which was duly challenged and found to not meet the requirements set forth in the bona FIDE Republican”. State GOP bylaws require that candidates must be active members of the party and voted in three of the last four Republican primaries in their country of residence.

One of the candidates removed from the ballot, the former Memphis Grizzlies team ophthalmologist Rolando Toyos. At a press conference in Nashville on Monday, Toyos insisted that he was “active in the party.” Toyos told his supporters that “if you look at my track record for voting, I, like an idiot, and show the last vote, I vote in the generals, so it’s not a question I did not vote in these elections”. Toyos’ vote, which he posted on his page in Facebook that he had voted at the last four General elections, but not in three of the last four primary elections. His campaign threatened to sue if he is removed from the ballot.
