New Zealand Army Commander-in-Chief Tony Davis and New Zealand Defense Minister Judith Collins arrived in Ukraine on Thursday, September 4. Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal said he had briefed the New Zealand delegation on the situation on the front lines and the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The parties discussed the prospects for a bilateral security agreement and defense cooperation, in particular, possible cooperation in the production of naval drones.

He thanked the authorities and people of New Zealand for their support of our country and for their assistance in countering the Russian shadow fleet.

The Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Sybiga, emphasized that this is the second visit in history of the head of the Ministry of Defense of New Zealand to Ukraine. The parties discussed further military assistance to our country, sanctions policy, as well as cybersecurity. The Head of the Ministry of Defense of New Zealand confirmed unwavering support and intention to expand cooperation in the defense sector with Ukraine.

In June, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Lacson, during which they discussed an initiative that will help Ukraine combat Russian kamikaze drones, as well as investments in the production of military equipment in our country.
