“I just think they lost their way and I can’t be associated with him,” Komi said in an interview with ABC news podcast “start here”, adding that he no longer considers himself a Republican.
He said he believes the Republican party began to change during the presidential campaign of 2016 and continues to change with President Donald trump in office. It wasn’t until he was fired a trump card that the roots have started to pay more attention to politics and realized, “these people don’t represent anything I believe.”

He noted that the Republican national Committee has launched a website dedicated to him: LyinComey.com. He said he served as “best evidence” that the GOP left him.
“I see the Republican party as far as I can tell, now fully reflects the values of Donald trump,” Komi said owner brad Mielke. “It doesn’t reflect value at all. This transaction is ego-driven, it is serving your ego. And this, I think, reassured by the idea that we are going to achieve important policy goals-tax cuts or something.”
Despite his distaste for politics and the Republican party, the Komi mentioned former Massachusetts Governor MITT Romney, when asked about any of the Republicans, he really respects.
Romney is a “man of principle and honor,” according to Komi, and is a “someone you should respect, because they care about values that everyone should care about no matter what your party affiliation.”

Looking ahead to 2020, Komei, who said the chief anchor of ABC news George Stephanopoulos he did not vote in 2016, said “start” he plans to vote against trump.
“I can’t imagine a situation for me to vote for President trump,” Komi said, “given the fact that I think it reflects in terms of values.”
He also wants to hit the election campaign for presidential candidate in 2020. But he hasn’t ruled it out.
“I believe that policy should be kind of icky in General,” he said. “I never wanted to run himself … of course, I want to talk about.”
Roots said that he does not care whether people vote Republican or Democrat, but “they have to support someone who shares the values of this country.”
“If we don’t get it right, we can spend all the time we want to spend it on fighting about politics,” he said. “We are losing something that is important for America.”
